Shorncliffe

The sky was blue, the day was Friday! Fridays are always happier days…even when you aren't 'working'. Our day was spent with Sarah in Shorncliffe (Loved it!). We had lunch at a cafe on the park (which was deliesh!) and put Charli bear on the swing all by herself, for the very first time! There was bum changing on a park bench, Cucumber strewn on the footpath, and for dinner, our local sushi train had a fair bit of 'floor sushi'. Messy, messy baby! (not at all like your Mum =p).

BLW

Our Baby led weaning adventure, is so rewarding and exciting! Charli LOVES exploring food and feeding herself with us during meal times But occasionally, it gets my heart racing! When Charli bites off a chunk of whatever she has got, I turn into a bit of a creep, just staring (possibly not even blinking), waiting, ready to pounce…and then relief when the little trooper chews and swallows. Charli is pretty switched on when it comes to this 'food' thing, She has discovered how many different uses it has. It either gets smeared on face/highchair, dropped onto the poor unsuspecting floor, Spit back out and rubbed lovingly into clothes, flicked across the room and occasionally even swallowed.

Hair tie

I'm sure I am not alone (or am I?), when I say today I had one of those days. A day of feeling a little lost as a person and unsure of what I want to , do , achieve, be. The future is such a certain yet uncertain thing that we have a lot, yet very little control over. Where is the line?, the magic line! where do you stop trying to figure out who and what you want to do, be, achieve and how much do you leave to simply fall into place how it's meant to?
I lay awake struggling with myself (while Bryce seems heavily sedated next to me), so tired yet so overwhelmed. I am clueless, yet full of ideas. Ideas that are trapped inside the blur that is my mind. I want to do so much, be so much, achieve so much and right now I feel like I am doing/being/achieving very little of what I would like to and it's driving me a little bonkers, and truth be known I really don't know where to start…

Now what you came here to hear about… Charli!

The poor child, some days I really feel very sorry for my little bear. I can't help it. I really thought that with motherhood, all of my general uncordination at life would disappear and I would be one of those safe, sturdy, 'normal' mums. But no, It would appear not.

I was tying my hair in an all glamorous bun (I now understand why Mum's don't wear there hair in long flowing curls) and my hair tie broke. 'oh goody' I thought reaching for another when little bear who was lying on our bed started crying. I looked over and that horrid hair tie had pinged off and landed in her eye! Now seriously, what are the odds! Only to me, only to Charli. I am so sorry you have me as your Mama some times darling, but I love you so much and by george, you will be one tough cookie xxx

Brave Little Bear

I dont think I have ever been so happy to open mail before. A wee while ago I asked my Aunty to make both Charli and I a quilt (She has her own page here). Today, Charli's arrived and blow me down and call me Nigel, it's beautiful! Of course I had to take a photo of it, and of course Charli had to spew on it. Oh wee one!
Charli bear had her 6 month injections today and was such a brave little trooper! Amazingly, there were no tears from either of us. Without a car, we decided to hang around town for a while and do a spot of treasure hunting, boy did we find some beauty's! Along with the op shops here, this is my most favourite shop in town! We ended up missing Mum's group due to a lovely conversation with a man, his dog and the barista and our local coffee house
What a lovely day in the sunshine.

Mondayitis

Today was an 'indoor' kind of day. Charli and I spent a lot of time, playing, cuddling, and laughing. I got spew in my hair and all down my neck after an aeroplane ride went horribly wrong, but on the upside it motivated me to have a shower before Bryce could find me still in my pj's ;)
When the bread winner come home, we all went for a family stroll to get coffee, rocky included. Being one of those lazy days, I only remembered to take a picture just as we arrived back at the door.

I spent many many minutes ringing, thinking and slightly worrying about our family and friends in NZ today, As there has been a few too many earthquakes, too close to home for my liking. Please stay safe and show those tectonic plates who's boss. Oh!, and move to Australia xxx

Bubbles

You had your first experience with bubbles today! Daddy blew and blew while I snapped away. You were amazed, delighted, a little concerned and very intrigued.

Saturday's Deal

Today after we went blender shopping and had sushi, Aunty Clare Bear moved to her new house. We waved goodbye and then walked to the supermarket in the glorious rain, (car is STILL getting fixed) as we were having guests for dinner. Now whenever we are with Tim & Sarah, it seems little bear likes to stay up late and join in on the fun. We had mexican for dinner, Charli included (though she thought it served much better as a face cream) and then played some monopoly deal, all taking turns with our grabby wee human.

A Stroll & A Swing

Since my car is still getting patched up, after another messy affair with food, the bear and I ventured out for a stroll. We had a coffee date and on the way home I took Charli on the swing which she love, love, loved!

A Feast

What a feast little bear had today! Roast carrot (orange & purple), cucumber, pear, avocado, banana and my goodness, what an absolute mess! Little bear struggled to keep hold of the avocado without absolutely destroying it with her impressive strength. I popped some on a spoon for her and straight in the gob it went. Charli was so chuffed with herself, happy as larry and literally covered tip to toe in all of the above.

Out In The Big Smoke

Today was long overdue! The little one and I hopped on the train and headed into the city to meet up with some very lovely ladies. We met Sonya and wee Alex for coffee (I met Sonya at the bank while I was working & we were both due with our bundles at the same time). For lunch we met Aunty Shari who spoilt Charli bear yet again with the most gorgeous quilt, that she made herself! Charli ate capsicum for the first time and swallowed it! We then headed up to my old work so the girls could met the reason for my resignation followed by BOQ (Bank of QLD) to visit my favourite bank team...only to find only one remained!
Charli bear was a gem on the train, both ways! Her little eyes darting back and forth watching the world fly by. After a busy busy day a little someone was quite tired, but not too tired to miss out on some more food. Little bear loves cucumber!

**Okay, I have definitely cheated! This photo is from the 21st of July but this is the quilt Shari made for Charli and I LOVE those eye lashes.
Truth be known, it's incredibly hard to take a photo with a fixed lens while wearing your baby and walking around the City. Excuses, I know - Please forgive me =)**

6 Months Old (Thats half a whole year!)

I was running ahead of schedule this morning for Charli's 6 month health check. So with 15 minutes up my sleeve, I decided a costume change could indeed be performed...and heck why not a nappy change while i'm at it. Once the nappy came off, I saw the beginnings of nappy rash so out came the blow dryer. While I was blowing away, Chari bear gave me the biggest grin and decided now would be the ideal time for a pee. Yes pee went absolutely everywhere. It was blown all over Charli (tip to toe), the change table, the floor and there was nothing but giggles (and wee everywhere)  followed by the worlds quickest bucket bath. Needless to say, we were late.

Charli baby, today you are half a year old! 6 months of breastfeeding, 6 months of waking up at all hours, 6 months of awesome, 6 months of wonderful you and not one tear shed!
You have grown so incredibly fast

You suck and bite your toes
You grab, grab, GRAB and want to grab anything and everything
You pull off your socks and eat them
You are doing baby led weaning
You have tried (in orderish) zucchini, banana, avocado, porridge, sushi, roast tomato, watermelon, toast, pumpkin, curry, cucumber, and pear

You like to sit up to play and sit up in the pram to watch the world
You still like to rock back and forth excitedly
You shake toys and smack them down on the highchair
You have a very serious concentrating face
You have started to move your legs in a crawling motion (however you are still face planting while doing so)
You scratch and pinch me so I had to invest in a special necklace for you to play with
You can push up on your arms although you still hate tummy time
You pull on Daddys beard
You have the best Aunties, Uncles and grandparents in the world!
You love bathtime with Daddy
You are taller than 'average' in height

Hairlarious

I know every parent probably feels this way, but my little darling is so beautiful, so special and I am so lucky! I pulled Charli in bed with me this morning so we could have a wee sleep in. When I woke, I looked over to Charli waking, she then looked at me and gave me the biggest smile. What a way to start the day! Charli baby wore her very first hair clip, (Thank you Aunty Shari) and little bear attempted beat boxing, we both thought it was hilarious!

Fly Away

Aunty Nic flew away today (we always love having her) and next time we see her, Charli will be 8.5 months and probably busier than I can currently imagine. Cheeky Charli rocked it in a highchair at grill'd while we ate delicious bugery goodness. We said goodbyes to Aunty Nic and then the two bears and I went and explored the Eaglefarm markets where Charli got her first pair of baby glasses (rayban style) and a tie-dyed onsie =D

Pokieless

Little bear is sitting like a trooper these days and has been loving playing with her wooden play gym that we picked up from Paddington. Aunty Nic read baby bear some books while I brushed my hair (it takes a lot of of taming) and then we all piled in the Micra. At the boat club we had a beverage and a bite to eat as well as a very awkward strangerfingersucking moment. It also turns out that babies aren't allowed in the pokies room. Sorry baby no premature gambling habit for you!

Paddington Bear

Charli bear has gotten so busy and not to mention grabby! She wants to grab anything and everything and then of course nom on it. Now this grab and nom thing happens in public too and an unsuspecting mother of one bear got one glass of water tipped all over her (yes, this may have been pay back for yesterdays whoopsie). After a delicious and slightly wet breakfast we headed next door to Paddingtons biggest and most incredible antique store (LOVE LOVE LOVE). Charli met her first manikin and wasn't really sure what to think and then we had a delightful explosion which called for a front seat nappy change/naked baby gig in the Nissan Micra.

Aunty!

Up bright and early, Charli and I dropped Clare off to work and then went to pick up Aunty Nicola from the airport! You know after all these trips to the airport, I still don't know where I am going or how to work it. I even dropped the parking ticket out the window while we were trying to exit.

Us three girls went to Sushi train for lunch and Charli destroyed a plate of avocado sushi with her bare hands. After sucking on some sushi, Charli munched off a piece of avo and spent the longest while moving it around her mouth and chomping all while pulling a very unsure (maybe even slightly disgusted?) face.

While waiting for our coffee's at Carindale I somehow slipped and spilt my bottle of water all over poor Nicola (and only a little on Charli) I was very nearly crying with laughter. These poor people who have to put up with me!

After dinner and just before a bath Charli had some long overdue tummy time. While her little face was planted flat on the ground, her little legs were crawling up, and pushing her over to roll...but like a boomerang, she came back. SOON, so so soon!!!
*Must baby proof the house!!!*

Sitting In Style

Our little lady is now sitting all by herself! There is the very occasional sideflop, like when Charli is concentrating so hard on a toy that she forgets how to sit.

The pineapple hairstyle has found my child. Her hair is getting so long on top, I couldn't resist (even though I gave my Mum so much grief for giving me the same hairstyle). And yes, my baby is wearing odd socks, but we are going to let that slide.

We have downsized the wolf pack, we now have a lone wolf which I think will make a huge difference =) With not having to chase two escaping dogs around the neighborhood, I should be able to get back to my daily blogging.  With that being said, I'm so sorry if you have missed us, we missed you too and now we are back! Your comments really give me motivation and make my day so please if you have an extra minute in your viewing time, leave me some love =)

2nd, 3rd & 4th of July

The last wee while has truly been a tad crazy. The night before last(2.07.13), Charli bear had her very first mouthful of food. Sitting on my lap, she grabbed zucchini off my plate, sucked it and then chomped off a mouthful. We are doing baby led weaning  you see, so it is all very exciting!
Yesterday(3.07.13) we were in a car accident which was a bit of a shock to the system. We are all ok, it was just incredibly scary having my little darling in the car! We got her checked out and she is fine! Thank goodness it wasn't any worse, I am so thankful we are all alive and kicking!
Today (4.07.13) Charli bear and I spent the day with our beautiful friend Nicole. Without a car, we went for a stroll to grab a coffee, do a spot of op shopping and we then went down to the waterfront to enjoy the beautiful blue sky and sunshine. Bryce sorted us a rental car and Nicole cooked us a beautiful vege lasagne for dinner.

30th June 2013

A very special day! Charli helped Nana blow out her 82nd birthday candle (which accidentally, was one of those cheeky never go out ones). We then Skyped Uncle J-Bird to wish him the happiest birthday too! Charli and I had a nap upstairs while a team effort was requred to help Nana work her new toy.
